About Luvvie

Writer. Social Media Strategist. Red Pump Rocker. Techie.

I’m Lovette “Luvvie” Ajayi, and I’m a writer, social media strategist and trainer. I’m also an experienced blogger who’s been at it for 9 years, 5 of which are at my humor blog, Awesomely Luvvie. That’s where I roast, rant and rave about everything from pop culture to life’s random adventures.

I’m a graduate of the University of Illinois, with a B.S. in Psychology. But my background is in Marketing, Communications and New Media. I’m a geek and fan of all three and I’ve presented at several conferences over the years on these topics. The conferences include: The Nonprofit Technology Conference, BlogHer, Blogging While Brown, Chicago Social Media Summit, Blogalicious Weekend, NeighborWorks Symposium, among others. For more info on my speaking engagements, visit my SPEAKING page.

I’m also passionate about social justice and a lover of shoes. I combined these loves and founded The Red Pump Project (Red Pump) with Karyn Watkins (The Fab Giver) in March 2009. Red Pump is a national nonprofit organization that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. Our work has earned us a Congressional Record from the U.S. House of Representatives as well as recognition from the City of Chicago Council.

I’m also on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Women’s AIDS Project, on the Blogger Advisory Board of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatrics AIDS Foundation, and served as the technology chair for the Chicago chapter of the New Leader’s Council.

When I’m not “Rocking the Red Pump” or blogging, I can be found loitering on any of the gazillion social media networks. I can also be found shopping for shoes, traveling and eating red velvet cupcakes.
